The Riverside Inn, a local establishment is closing it doors on Sat. It has been around since the 1920 and it shows. It is a funny little restaurant that was once a Speak Easy and now, I think, mostly used for wedding receptions. I say that because before last night, the only other times I have been there was for two wedding receptions and my 8th grade dance. For those that have never been there, think run down country club dinning with odd mixture of paintings, decorations and decor. It is right next to a river so has a long history of being flooded and it just has the look of somewhere you just know has to be haunted.

Ben and I went for dinner there on its final week with two couples we know from church. Susan and Steve and Skip and Michelle. Being that it was in its dieing days, we all ordered the Fried Chicken they are known for. BTW: really the only thing I had even ever had there.
Was it good? Not really. It tastes about as good as a cafeteria food. It is over priced at almost $20 but the portions are large. They serve you half a chicken and it comes with a side of green beans, carrots, and new potatoes. The Corn Fritters were good but can you ever go wrong with fried bread?
Yes, it was overpriced and not very good but I am glad we went. It was fun to dress up and go out to eat at 5:30 on a Wednesday. Fun to go out to eat with all the local old people. Fun to be one of the last people to eat a local dinning icon.

We forgot to take a picture until after we ate so here is picture of a to go box.

Not a couple but they are related. Susan and Michelle are sister in laws. For some reason I do not have a picture of Michelle’s husband but he was there.

Steve, Susan’s husband, started his night with a shot. Bad day Steve?
