Earthquake in Haiti

As many of you know, my father currently lives on the same island as Haiti in the country of Dominican Republic. My father did not feel the earthquake.

My prayers (and donation) go out to the people of Haiti. I can not even begin to image the desperation and sadness that everyone of them are feeling right now.

I only hope that our world can come together and start to figure out how to help the truly needy people of this world. Please consider making a donation. There is a link to the Red Cross located in my side bar.

The Easy Bake Oven

That is not a picture from after Blue started eating it.
That is the before picture.

Hmmmm.
Maybe it was the cooking spray?
As you can see, It did not come out of the “baking pan” very well.
Let’s hope that the Easy Bake Oven gets easier.

She did say it tasted good.
In fact, She did not even seem to notice anything was wrong.

Either way it is an awesome gift MammMamm and Grandpa.
Thank you.

SNOW!

It stared with a white Christmas and then just kept coming. The best part was all the stars were aliened…there was several inches of snow, it happened during a weekend & Daddy was in town. This means of course that we went sledding!

Time to bundle up and go play outside!

God, I love the bundled up pictures.

First when started in our backyard. It has a good hill and close to home. Perfect place to start.

It work for a couple of times but the high snow and steep hill caused some problems for the shorter members of the family. I have to admit, I too had problems getting up the hill with out falling. As seen in the picture above Quin found it near impossible. After about 10 minutes we decided to move to the front yard and just play in the snow while Ben shoveled the drive way.

I quickly decided that the road in front of our house looked perfect for sledding.* The snow was already packed and the hill was a perfect incline. This new location lead to sledding for about an hour. I do have to say the best time I have ever had sledding. Sorry no pictures. I put the camera away when moving to the front yard.

*Please note I do not recommend sledding in the road and can not be held responsible for any accidents that may accure if you decide to try it. Because of these obvious dangers to sledding in the middle of the road, I road with Blue and Ben road with Quin. For people who don’t know my neighborhood, it is a quite one lane, one way in and one way out neighborhood with very little traffic. Especially on this snowy Sunday afternoon. This most likely makes our circumstances different then you might find on your street.

The snow has been here a couple of weeks and now I am ready for the snow to go away. Yes it was pretty and fun for a while but enough is enough. In fact I am ready for winter to be done all together. Hurry up Spring. I am ready when ever you are.

Once Back inside I did get a picture of the kids enjoying some hot chocolate.

Christmas 2009

Oh Yes I did!

This year I made everyone wear matching PJ’s. I could not find 4 exact ones but I only found these the week before Christmas. I will start looking for match PJ’s starting in Oct this year.

When I was a kid we were allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve and it was always new PJ’s. Every year I forgot and was hugely disappointed when opening this early package so I skipped wrapping and just told my kids that we all got new PJ’s for Christmas. Of course I told them this after I told them how bad I had it and how mean my Mother was tricking me every year. (Just kidding Mom)

Christmas morning came early for this Mother that loves her sleep. As Tradition, I woke up early to bake home made coffee cake for everyone. Timing it so it would be in the oven before the kids woke up and done once the gifts were all open. Just in case, a baby gate keeps the kids from walking in on Santa in the middle of the night and allows me to get that first shot of the morning.

Santa was very good to my kids this year. He even found a couple of Zhu Zhu Pets for Blue the week before Christmas. I do believe they got everything they asked for plus some!

The best part for Ben and me was feeling overwhelmingly blessed all Season. It was a wonderful Christmas and we thank God everyday for such a wonderful life and family.

I know it is a little late but
Merry Christmas, may God be with you and bless you always.

Church Christmas Program 2009

This was the second time we were involved in our Churches Children Christmas Program. The first time was in 2004 when Quin was Baby Jesus, I was Mary, Ben was Joseph and Blue was an Angle.

Yes, My Church uses live babies for their Christmas Programs. In Fact that year they even had a live donkey. Yes, the Donkey was inside the church and No, I did not ride it.

I realize 2004 is a more interesting story with me being the Virgin Mother and everything but lets keep this post a little more current.

In 2009 Blue and Quin were going to be in the 3 to 5 year old Bell Choir and dress up as an Angle and a Shepherd. Good News, my only participation in 2009 was to take them to several practices.

Here is a recording from one of their practices:

Nope they never got much better BUT Boy did Blue look cute!

While Quin did participate in all the practices and even got fitted for a costume, on the day of the program he decided he did not want to be in it. I guess once you have been Baby Jesus any other part just does not seem worth it.

Here is a picture of me dropping him off in the nursery.

PreSchool Christmas Program 2009

My favorite. I love sitting on miniature chairs. No really, the whole thing cracks me up. I love the Touch of Nature Christmas Program. With only 5 groups it does not last to long. 2 Songs for each group and then they all come in for the finally. Short and Sweet.

I only took pictures this year. The mother of Nic, a friend I knew even before we had babies on the same weekend a little over three years ago, took the video. So hopefully the video will come later. Note to self, I need to burn her a CD with the photos on it.

Blue:
Pre Program, lined up and ready to go!

She is the tall one :)

Oh, Blue, Being the tall one, I do believe that you will always have to be in the back row. Don’t worry, that beautiful smile can be seen all the way across the room.

Quin:
Pre Program. Everyone sitting against the wall.

Getting introduced.

Nic and Quin. Best Buddies.

This is in the middle of the second song. Quin has lost interest in singing, moved on to stealing the Directors necklace.

Well there you go but hold on tight. Next is the Church Christmas program and that has singing, costumes and instruments!

Happy Holidays from the Heydt Wylie Family 2009

Well the holiday season has come and gone and I only now, once it is over, have a moment to blog about it. I will be breaking my holiday report into many post because I hate a really long posts. I prefer to consider my blog as a quick enjoyable commercial break in life vs. a long drawn out novel.

Above is our Holiday Card for 2009. Being a Graphic Designer I feel obligated to design our Christmas card. I don’t find designing it a challenge but finding a good picture of the 4 of us is almost impossible. In fact this year I could not come up with one. Thank God for Photoshop.

I am getting smarter about our holiday card. This year it was professionally printed. Really so much easier and cheaper then printing them out myself. Most likely cheaper then your photo card from Wal-Mart or Walgreens. PSprint.com is my printer of choice. I ordered 150 postcards for under 45 bucks. I could of even spent less…They sent me the over run…I probably 150 left. Next year I will only order 100. Envelope were from my my long time Envelope source, envelopemall.com Cost for 200 envelopes…under $30 with shipping. You do have to buy them in packs of 100.

We sent out over a hundred so if you didn’t get one make sure and send my your address so you can be put on next years mailing list.

Stay tune for more about the Heydt Wylie’s 2009 Holiday Season.

Winter is HERE

It is cold outside. Better layer up.

He is the one who insisted on two hats.
Not to be out done, Blue wanted two scarfs.

Good Bye to the Riverside Inn

The Riverside Inn, a local establishment is closing it doors on Sat. It has been around since the 1920 and it shows. It is a funny little restaurant that was once a Speak Easy and now, I think, mostly used for wedding receptions. I say that because before last night, the only other times I have been there was for two wedding receptions and my 8th grade dance. For those that have never been there, think run down country club dinning with odd mixture of paintings, decorations and decor. It is right next to a river so has a long history of being flooded and it just has the look of somewhere you just know has to be haunted.

Ben and I went for dinner there on its final week with two couples we know from church. Susan and Steve and Skip and Michelle. Being that it was in its dieing days, we all ordered the Fried Chicken they are known for. BTW: really the only thing I had even ever had there.

Was it good? Not really. It tastes about as good as a cafeteria food. It is over priced at almost $20 but the portions are large. They serve you half a chicken and it comes with a side of green beans, carrots, and new potatoes. The Corn Fritters were good but can you ever go wrong with fried bread?

Yes, it was overpriced and not very good but I am glad we went. It was fun to dress up and go out to eat at 5:30 on a Wednesday. Fun to go out to eat with all the local old people. Fun to be one of the last people to eat a local dinning icon.

We forgot to take a picture until after we ate so here is picture of a to go box.

Not a couple but they are related. Susan and Michelle are sister in laws. For some reason I do not have a picture of Michelle’s husband but he was there.

Steve, Susan’s husband, started his night with a shot. Bad day Steve?
